AFTER SCHOOL & SUMMER CAMP

"Anyone who has two shirts should share with the one who has none. and anyone who has food should do the same." ​Luke 3:11
Every Monday to Thursday after school,  Cornerstone Ministries welcomes more than 200 of Salima's neediest children. After being greeted with loving arms and warm smiles by our devoted ministry staff, the children receive a hot meal of rice, vegetables, and soya. 
For many, it is their only meal of the day. They line up one by one, respectfully and patiently waiting their turn. They meet the eyes of those who kindly fill their plates, communicating gratefulness and thanks to the hands that feed them. ​
After we feed the children, we lead them in gospel-centered games, singing, dancing, and teaching. ​Before the games begin, the children are reminded of the rules. Respect your leaders. Respect one another. Participate. And have fun!
Following the fellowship and fun, the children break down into age groups where our teachers help them with academics. We help with math, spelling, life skills, and other subjects. Further, we stress the importance of academics, encouraging the children to study hard and remain committed to their education. In a community where many kids do not attend high school, this encouragement is critical.
During the summer holiday from school, Cornerstone runs a camp. The children come every morning for games, arts & crafts, bible studies, life skills training, sports programs, and academic coaching. We also give the children a hot meal of rice, vegetables, and soya.
It is our hope and prayer that these programs will transform children's lives. Our goal is to connect them to Christ and empower them to be the leaders of tomorrow. We encourage them to achieve academic excellence, exhort them to adopt Godly lifestyles, and model Christ-centered service to others. We strive to cultivate an atmosphere of respect, humility, honesty, hard work, and devotion to God.
